He is our Creator and our Redeemer - He twice owns us:
But now thus saith the LORD that Created thee, O Jacob,
and He that formed thee, O Israel,
Fear not: for I have Redeemed thee,
I have called thee by thy name; thou art Mine. Isaiah 43:1
The wearing of the crown of thorns indicated also that He has redeemed the earth from the curse that sin brought (Gen 3), so we are more than covered by His precious blood.
Another point is that "whether we live or whether we die we are the LORD's" - so no matter what happens to us, He has everything more than adequately covered for each one of us!
