Christ The Word Of God

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men…And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:1-4, 14

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He Himself. And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word of God. Revelation 19:11-13

When Christ “who cannot lie” speaks, it is so.

He is “the Word of God”

So shall My word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isaiah 55:11

He Who spoke worlds into existence now uses His creative power for the redemption of sinners. Creation is redemption; the same power is used - He speaks. When He declares “you are righteous”, immediately the righteousness of God is in the heart. A new life has begun. It is retained by faith.

In receiving the word, we receive Christ. And only those who thus receive His words are building upon Him. “Other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:11.

“There is none other name under heaven, given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12.

Christ, the Word, the revelation of God,—the manifestation of His character, His law, His love, His life,—is the only foundation upon which we can build a character that will endure. MB 148

When Christ came to “save His people from their sins” and to demonstrate how to live, He was still, and in a new sense is, “the Living Word of God”, which we can find analysed in the “Written Word of God”. He continually made the connections - “it is written”, “have ye not read”, “What saith the Scriptures?”, “go and learn what it means”, “did ye never read in the Scriptures”…

Ye, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me. And ye will not come to Me, that ye might have life.” John 5:39,40
