Courteous

It has been said, “a little courtesy costs nothing”.

Those who have tried to practice this principle have seen that it has brought them great rewards in this world.

As Christians with Christ living His life in and through us we will naturally be just as courteous as He was while on earth. Trying to do it ourselves will be impossible and we will not be able to “keep it up”.

But Christ, after courteously receiving His guest, came directly to the point, and laid open before Nicodemus the object of his visit. ST April 18, 1900

This will actually be Him abiding in us, living His life in and through us, producing the only true and lasting Way to be able to “keep it up” all of the time, and even to our enemies.

If they give themselves to Christ, He will subdue all in their nature that is harsh or overbearing or dictatorial. They are not to think that they will have no opposing influences to meet. But Christ has promised to be with them always, even to the end. If they constantly cherish a sense of His presence, they will act politely and courteously to all with whom they are brought in contact. Lt 116, 1903

Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous. 1 Peter 3:8

If we would humble ourselves before God, and be kind and courteous and tenderhearted and pitiful, there would be one hundred conversions to the truth where now there is only one. But, though professing to be converted, we carry around with us a bundle of self that we regard as altogether too precious to be given up. It is our privilege to lay this burden at the feet of Christ and in its place take the character and similitude of Christ. The Saviour is waiting for us to do this. 9T 189

We can trust Him; He will do it!
