The Distinguishing Sign

Are you allowing Christ's creative power to recreate you, and resting in Him every moment, the holy Sabbath being a weekly reminder of both? Matthew 11:25-29; 2 Corinthians 5:17,18; Hebrews 4; 1 Peter 4:19

It is Christ’s ability to create that measures His power. The “everlasting gospel” tells us that the same power He used to speak worlds into existence, is now exerted for the salvation of men. He is God. The rightful place of Christ is set forth in order that His power to redeem might be better appreciated. Redemption is creation, the same power is used.

Those who rest in Christ Jesus are never restless or uneasy. He means just what He says when He bids us commit the keeping of our souls unto Him, as to a faithful Creator. OFC 276

Do you understand that it is impossible to keep the Biblical Sabbath holy unless you are holy, and that this is possible only by having the Holy One continually dwelling in you? Leviticus 20:26; Galatians 2:20; John 15

No other institution which was committed to the Jews tended so fully to distinguish them from surrounding nations as did the Sabbath. God designed that its observance should designate them as His worshipers. It was to be a token of their separation from idolatry, and their connection with the true God. But in order to keep the Sabbath holy, men must themselves be holy. Through faith they must become partakers of the righteousness of Christ. When the command was given to Israel, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy,” the Lord said also to them, “Ye shall be holy men unto Me.” Exodus 20:8; 22:31. Only thus could the Sabbath distinguish Israel as the worshipers of God.

As the Jews departed from God, and failed to make the righteousness of Christ their own by faith, the Sabbath lost its significance to them. Satan was seeking to exalt himself and to draw men away from Christ, and he worked to pervert the Sabbath, because it is the sign of the power of Christ. DA 283

When we acknowledge the Sabbath we acknowledge Christ’s divinity and the true spiritual rest of the Sabbath, which is found only in Him. It is identical to the rest enjoyed by the saints, with God, through all eternity. We can have Heaven now and that is a delight. We come and rest on the Word that created and upholds the universe.

The Sabbath is the grand fulcrum for the lever of faith. It lifts the soul to the heights of heaven, God's throne, to hold communion with Him.

The Sabbath is a sign of His perfect creation, the seal of a perfect new creation in Christ. The same Power that created and sanctified the day, recreates and sanctifies us.

Anything that keeps before us the creative power of Christ must tend to renew our spiritual strength and courage. This is just the design of the Sabbath; it is a little piece of Eden preserved.

The Sabbath is not a day of “do’s and dont’s” — True Sabbath observance acknowledges the ceasing our own works and allowing God to do His work in us. “To will and to do of His good pleasure.” Then all our works are wrought in Him and they are right – that is indeed rest.

The Sabbath is absolute rest in Him and His word.

Enjoy a blessed and holy Day of Rest.
