Jealous

We have all become aware that Christ twice owns us; firstly by creation and secondly by redemption. As our Owner He has every right to be jealous of our affections and devotions.

I the Lord thy God am a jealous God. Ex 20:5

For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God. Deuteronomy 4:24

For the Lord thy God is a jealous God among you. Deuteronomy 6:15

They provoked Him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they Him to anger. Deuteronomy 32:16

They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities. Deuteronomy 32:21

And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the Lord: for He is an holy God; He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. Joshua 24:19

For they provoked Him to anger with their high places, and moved Him to jealousy with their graven images. Psalms 78:58

Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for My holy name. Ezekiel 39:25

Then will the Lord be jealous for his land, and pity His people. Joel 2:18

Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death;
jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Song of Solomon 8:6

For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one Husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:2

The one sin that God's people commit is adultery, and He is the Husband of His people. So, when they give their affections to something or someone else, or especially to self, it is against Him, and it is not surprising that Christ would be jealous.
