Thomas

He has been most often referred to as “the doubter”, but today we see him as uttering the most profound things on each of the occasions that he was recorded:

Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellow disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with Him. John 11:16

Well said Thomas - that is exactIy what we are to be doing each and every day; I die daily. 1 Corinthians 15:31

Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither Thou goest; and how can we know the way?  John 14:5

There is only One Way that we can know The Way; Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. John 14:6

But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into His side, I will not believe. John 20:24,25

We have all fallen for the devil’s trap of this one at times, demanding to “see” the evidence, before we will believe.

And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith He to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold My hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into My side: and be not faithless, but believing. John 20:26,27

Thomas answered and said unto Him, My Lord and my God. John 20:28
Now, that is the most perfect response that we can ever give!

“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten” Revelation 3:19; Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. John 20:29

Thank you Thomas!

Thank you John for recording his words; they are all we need to know -
N.B. the next words:
And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. John 20:30,31
